Had my first grain today - was a bit skeptical that the food might not match the pack ... I was totally wrong!! Fantastic food, great concept, with you all the success and a be ordering some more.
Grain was highly recommended, yet we were totally unprepared for what we encountered. Deciding to go with the flow, we allowed the bar manager to order for us. This allowed us to try things with which we were totally unfamiliar. Beginning with cocktails, my husband had an Ampersand an unbelievable combo of vodka, chili, soy, lime, and basil. My mother-in-law who does not imbibe was treated to a virgin green creation which she said was great. I 'd put my Low Knees, a delicious combination of vodka, rhubarb shrub, and lemon, against any previously sampled drink. They were all so different and so beyond delicious, but perhaps nothing compared to the show we were treated to by Kevin, the bar manager, who whipped up our concoctions with liquid nitrogen--picture an incredible tasting erupting volcano. We were as delighted as little kids with the performance . Then began the tasting of the appetizers. We started with a sultry Gazpacho, followed by Deviled Eggs. And then they really brought in their A-Game: Fried Green Tomatoes, perfectly crisp adorned with tasty crawfish, a Burrata a combo of tomato, roasted strawberries, white asparagus surrounded by Green Goddess dressing, And then "IT" arrived. Cudos to the genius who created the Mortadella Mousse served between 2 pistachio macaroons, a sublime unification of sweet and spicy. I cannot imagine living the rest of my life without experiencing this exquisite taste at least one more time. Next we devoured Crisp Arugula Pesto-filled Raviolis that defied description. And as we agreed we couldn't eat another bite, out they came with their savory flatbread pizza. I can't imagine how we did it, but when offered the Sour Cream Panna Catta which actually melted in our mouths, we ate every bit. The entire experience was surreal. The service could not have been better, or the staff nicer. It was obvious everyone took pride in what they served, as well they should. We left fatter and happier and with more than enough sustenance for the 2 hour ride home. We weren't sorry that we took Kevin's recommendation for the Pimento cheese plate, (again beyond delicious and nothing like the ordinary pimento cheese we were expecting) for a late night snack. Anyone traveling near the Atlanta area, or even anyone that doesn't mind a delicious detour from their route, try Grain. It will not disappoint!
